Ronald McDonald House: ADCO Takes Fundraising to New Heights

Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland (RMHC) provides accommodation and a caring, supportive environment for families whose children are undergoing medical treatment at CHI in Crumlin. The charity and its programs provide comfort to parents and their families during cancer and other illnesses, who live so far away from the hospital that driving back and forth from their home to be with their seriously ill child would be extremely difficult.

Families staying at RMHC don’t have to worry about where they are going to sleep, finding somewhere to eat, or where to park their car – because the charity believes that families are stronger and cope better when they are together.

Togetherness, unity and collaboration

That’s something the ADCO family can identify with. We are great believers in the strength of togetherness and unity too. Wanting to make a difference in our community, we’ve built a tradition helping children in need. We first heard about the amazing service that RMHC provides through the work they do with CHI at Temple Street, and we started supporting them in our annual Santa run, delivering toys and presents to the children staying at Ronald McDonald House Ireland each Christmas.

But we thought we could go further and maybe a lot higher to help. So this May, six members of the ADCO team – Niamh McNamara, Bill Marks, Steven Howard, Aisling Moran, Gisela Batista and Michael Pender – are going to go skydiving under the help and guidance of the Irish Parachute Club to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House. The money we collect will be going to help them build new accommodation for families on the site of the New Children’s Hospital in Dublin 8.

Any of us who have ever had a seriously ill child in hospital knows how helpless it can make you feel, and just how much the support of people who understand what you are going through can be. And you just never know when it could be you, or someone in your family, or who could do with the help and health support that Ronald McDonald House provides.

You can make a difference by donating

We’re not going to ask you to jump out of a plane (we’ve already committed to doing that) but we’d love it if you could help us and make it all worthwhile by donating on our official RMHC ADCO skydive page here and helping us to reach our target.
