Lynch Medical Supplies, Balbriggan

Scope

Conversion of an existing textile warehouse into an office, as well as warehouse storage for Lynch Medical Supplies, to allow ease of access for staff to the warehouse areas. Fit-out of the ground and first floor to include structural steel installation, with new stairs, stud walls and ceilings. We installed a 60 minute, jumbo stud, fire-rated wall, and fireproofed internal doors and glazed screens. In addition, we added new floor finishes, a feature timber cladding, and new car charging points.

Challenges

The load-bearing capacity of the first floor was inadequate for our MEWP; therefore, all work at height in this area was completed with scaffolding, aluminium towers, and with MEWPs used elsewhere. Ensuring compliance of the firewall between the warehouse and office space required careful planning and coordination with the design team.

Successes

Despite delays in procurement on long lead-in time items due to Covid, ADCO successfully completed the main stairwell, which is the key feature of the building, on budget and on time.
